Sunday Mornings at 10:30 a.m.
Worship at North Greenwich Congregational
Church is traditional, yet informal. We truly are an “extended” family, bringing the joys and
concerns of our everyday world to each service of worship. We offer
thanksgiving for the small and major celebrations of our lives. And, we
seek comfort and support for life’s inevitable setbacks. We find our
worship experience helps to refocus and renew our lives through the light of
Scripture and communal prayer.
Our weekly worship follows the lectionary used
by most Protestant denominations. We use the New Revised Standard Version
of the Bible and the United Church of Christ’s New Century Hymnal. We are
committed to using inclusive language, and yet are known to bring out our
old favorite hymns (with traditional lyrics) from time to time. Communion
is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month.
We welcome children in our service of worship.
Royal always shares a special moment with them, exploring Bible stories and
other children’s literature through the enchantment of his elaborate felt
board presentations. Elementary-aged children are then dismissed to a Sunday
School program. On Communion Sundays, they rejoin us for the sacrament.
Middle School and Senior High students remain
in the service. They are invited to participate in worship leadership once
a month and join the Sunday School students to plan a Youth Service at the
end of the school year. They also participate in a monthly youth group.
